In 1956 we were looking at the 1956 Thunderbirds. We could not make up our minds to buy or not. We thought what would people think if we bought this type of car? We finally invested in Thunderbirds.
Then on November 14, 1957, I told Edna Mae how serious are we about buying a Thunderbird car... she said, "if you are ready I am".
We took the checkbook and drove to Bishop Motors in Santa Rosa, California, a Ford dealer where they had three Thunderbirds on the showroom floor. They had a red one and two black ones. Edna Mae said, "if we are going to buy one of these it has to be an automatic which our car has".
Edna Mae did not want to drive it home, so I drove it.
On Roblar Road they were doing road work. The water truck had wet the road, I tried to back up. The flagman would not let me do that. So I drove about 3 miles per hour on it. When we got home we washed the car real good.
We were really excited about our new car.
The next morning Edna Mae said, "she did not sleep much dreaming about the Thunderbird car."
The picture with her sitting on the fender was taken in the afternoon of November 14, 1957.
I have other stories I could tell about our events with this car also.
